The Chlotrudis Society for Independent Film is pleased to join with the INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL OF BOSTON (IFFBoston) once again as a co-presenter as part of the festival’s 15th year. And we are particularly pleased to have the opportunity to celebrate the contributions of women in cinema, both in front of and behind the camera.
A family thriller, Jason Cortlund and Julia Halperin’s LA BARRACUDA stars Allison Tolman (Fargo) as Merle, a Texas woman who finds out her dead musician father had another daughter, when the woman appears at her door. Her appearance, and their shared musical legacy, slowly upends every aspect of Merle’s life, in unexpected ways.
LOST IN PARIS is the latest from comic duo Dominique Abel and Fiona Gordon who star in the gentle slapstick comedy. A small town Canadian librarian flies to Paris at the behest of her 93-year-old aunt’s distressed letter, only to discover her gone. Instead she meets an annoying odd duck of a vagabond who will not leave her be as she struggles to navigate the city and find her aunt (Emmanuelle Riva), who is making mischief of her own.
LA BARRACUDA will be shown at 9:30pm at the Somerville Theater, in the heart of Davis Square, on Saturday April 29th. LOST IN PARIS will be on Sunday April 30th at 6:15pm,, at the historic Brattle Theater, 40 Brattle Street in Harvard Square.
